A List of Known Chapters
The FCCA had multiple chapter clubs over the course of its approximately 45 year history. I have counted 103 chapters so far, spanning numerous states. Not all of these chapters existed at the same time and some chapters were relatively short lived. But, each chapter represents a spark of enthusiasm in some corner of the country that led a group of people to seek affiliation with the Four Cylinder Club of America. If you have any chapter related information, photos, printed materials, regalia, and the like, email me at wilkmanracing@aol.com
The FCCA started with the Glendale Chapter ca. 1949-1950. The growth of the club was phenomenal, however, and soon it was clear that a single club entity would not be sufficient to serve the Club’s needs. So, the decision was made to establish chapter clubs, centered on the geographic area of the enthusiasts each chapter would serve. Here is a list of the chapters I have become aware of in my research. The list below is organized by state. Chapters for which I have information are noted in red. Chapters covered in one way or another on this web site are noted in green. IF YOU KNOW OF OTHER CHAPTERS OR HAVE INFORMATION/MATERIALS RELATED TO ANY CHAPTER, PLEASE Contact Us!

Hello, I found a “Garden Grove” FCCA dash plaque for sale on ebay that was for a ANRC sanctioned event “Pioneer IV” on Feb 6, 1966. Can you confirm if there was indeed a FCCA chapter in Garden Grove at that time? A photo of the plaque can be seen at this photobucket link http://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz102/crmaddox92840/1966GARDENGROVEFCCA.jpg
I have never been a FCCA member (alas), but am a Garden Grove resident and long time MG owner and would love to know a bit more about this bit of local history.
Thank you, Cliff
Hi Cliff
Thanks for your comment and the link to the Garden Grove dash plaque. The Garden Grove Chapter was granted an FCCA chapter charter on October 21, 1958. Its representative was James M. Fitzgerald, c/o R.W. Marsellus Inc., 12961 Harbor Blvd, Garden Grove, CA. This is all I have on the Garden Grove Chapter at this time. As I find more information, I will pass it along to you.
I am a former member (early 70’s) of NCRT/FCCA (NorCal Rallye Team) in Santa Clara, CA. Now live in Boise, ID and hve belonged to SWISCC (Southwest Idaho Sports Car Club) for nearly 20 years. It was founded in 1959 but never was a part of FCCA. Former members of NCRT can contact me at rallye13@msn.com. I have a few old photos of “CONQUEST” as well as some NCRT event flyers done by Johnny Johnson of Teapot Studios. I also have some patches and dash plaques – including GOLDBUG rallye by RS. In addition, I have a few old FCCA newsletters that I will scan and submit.
Great to hear from you, Jim. Sounds like you will help fill in many gaps in our knowledge of Northern California events. Former Northern California FCCA members David James and John Taylor have already helped with the web site and are on the FCCA mailing list. Any photos or printed documents you can scan for the archives would be greatly appreciated. Artifacts like dash plaques, patches, trophies, etc. can be photographed and sent to FourCylinderClub@aol.com. Donations of items you don’t want to keep would also be greatly appreciated.
I’m selling a grille badge on Ebay for the Dayton, Ohio Chapter so there must have been a chapter there. CC
I was a member of the Ratcherfratchers in the 1963-67 time frame and spent many nights and Sunday afternoons participating in rallys all around the Bay Area in my red 1955 MG TF1500. We had a great club artist/cartoonist who would create great pen and ink drawings to announce our rallys. Our club logo was an oversized R with the S attached below the R; white letters with a black background. I remember my first rally was with one of my best friends, Mark Miller. I drove my Dad’s column shift 4-door sedan white Hillman. Mark and I still talk about how we almost won. As the scores went up, we continued to slip in the standings and eventually ended up somewhere in the bottom half of the top ten if memory serves me. I have several dash plaques and somewhere I’ve got my original RS jacket patch. JJG
Thanks for sharing your experiences with the Ratcherfratchers. Lou Gross, former member of the Wandering Wheels gave me several manilla envelopes of FCCA materials and among the its was artwork by the gentleman you mentioned. Very fun and creative drawings! Among the items in Lou’s envelopes were dash plaques from the RS club and the WW club. I met Lou at a car show and had fun listening to his stories back in the day. Also among the former Ratcherfratchers who have contacted me is David James. Perhaps you knew Lou or David?
Sherman Oaks, CA , October 1952. Dad gave me a used TD for my birthday. Drove it to Notre Dame High. Then drove it to Pierce college in 1954. I wasn’t allowed to drive at night but did go on a few FCCA rally’s. Can’t remember which chapter it was but I put the FCCA decals on the car. Sold the TD in about 1955. Fast forward to 1988. Living in Honolulu and wanted a sports car so I could be young again. Bought a MG-TC. Then a TD, then a TA, then a TF and finally a MG-J2. I still have all of them, still drive them all and belong to a couple of British car clubs.
Aloha,
Sherrill “Willie” Williams
I grew up in the San Fernando Valley too, and interestingly, Sherman Oaks was my home “town” too. The chapter whose events in which you participated was likely the San Fernando Chapter or the Glendale Chapter. Thanks for posting your history with the FCCA.
